Rothiemurchus Forest by Loch an Eilean, nr Aviemore 1st week August 2010
with always lots to see ....springing up saplings and ancient and bleaching
dead...yew, blae, fungi, atmospheric light over water, pebble beaches, signs
of older inhabitation and use, backdrops of The Plateau...
Aviemore's re-emergence as a place to visit and a centre for launching into
the Cairngorm National Park is excellent.
We had a spell of 3 really nice days there, camping at nearby Alvie Estates
site, just south of Aviemore...brilliant, highly recommended.
