The Campsie backdrop is always a spectacular view any time of the year. Here
with no foliage, the Spout of Ballagan (waterfall) can be quite well seen;
as soon as the leaves come on, the view is very well hidden and only
reasonably seen from way up the bank and the drops are very steep towards
dangerous edges.....

On the pastures we saw the sheep being kept on rough, muddy, 'worn-out
pastures' getting them ready for taking the tups and lambing.
Not far off the burn-side were a pair of geese and one had a very sore
foot...not sure if it had been shot and the pellets had caused the damage,
but it's 'mate' was there to help see it back to enough of a recovery to
make the long flight north again in a few days, or week or two. True
friendship and support in nature that we'd not always consider ...a 'human
trait...? A bit condescending that view, likely...why would 'animals' not
look after each other in the herd, or flock, or 'skein' (of geese).
