Scotland mostly - through nsl4u

It was good long afternoon, up by the Distillery (well worth a visit) and (I
did) over Dumgoyne onto the trail that goes right along the northern edge of
the Campsies to Earl's Seat....
Looking north west, north east, and easterly on the way out...Towards Ben
Lomond I was lucky enough to catch the buzzard sailing on the thermals...up
the top and over by the frozen solid scree 'run' (daft move, terribly
thankful that the family I just passed did not follow me) - north side in
the constant shade..what else should I have expected!!

Northwards over Flanders Moss (sited above as we were, above Balfron)
towards the Big Pair of Stobinian and Ben More (over 4000) just left of
Meall na Diege;;...and then swinging easterly looking north, towards Ben
Venue, Ben Ledi (about 2800) and then the other pair of Stuc a Chroin and
Ben Vorlich (both about 3200).....

Wending the way along the northern edge, we got decently close to the old
sea corries of Balglas and Allenrowie then hooked over to the Earl's top.
We came back on a faint wee trod (just off which we parked 'oorsels' for 10
mins out of the cold wind, and had a wee piece and coffee) that you might
discern on one of the views looking directly over the heathers and grasses
towards the ES top;....coming back by heading along the 'northern side' of
the wonderfully evocative Clackertyfairlie Knowes towards the ridge path
again, back towards Dumgoyne....

As the day drew on the setting Sun threw different shades and colours of
amber-towards-pink ..until we reached the bottom stile and short walk to the
car for home and tea.

A very lovely, bracing and rare Winter's excursion onto local hills...JOY!
