Scotland mostly - through nsl4u

After a fairly wet journey north towards Strontian, it calmed quite
dramatically towards Mallaig and then there were a few lovely days of the
west coast.
Mallaig is still quite busy and a really nice launching pad for the western
isles and especially Skye.....landing at Armadale, in the Sleat region of
The Misty Isle....

The boat journey over to Armadale was lovely, and that hazy, slightly damp
western air gives the coasts and islands all that renowned character. The
views out to Rhum and Eigg were so inner hebridean...mystical and magical,
so different, and full of the visitor charm that everyone who makes the
effort to land waxes lyrically about.....but oh, they must have been such
hard times on the crofting/ living on the edge to eek out a
living.........The telly can make too much of the touristy charm portrayed
on quite often 'nice days'......still, 'they' were the making of Ben Fogle
of multi-programme fame!

Over the sea to Skye is still a wonderful experience and I'd always try
ferry if possible rather than the new bridge...

Go to the Inner and Outer Hebrides if you can - so much variety
.....sunshine can help, but doesn't do anything to fulfill all the
character.
