Scotland mostly - through nsl4u

Though 'mixed weather' was forecast, it proved to be a glorious few days in
and around F A ...a lovely wee town with the steps of the Great Glen canal
locks lifting a few boats up and down to/from the renowned Loch Ness towards
east...or Loch Lochy in the west.
Great wee place with good eateries and decent beer stops...a 'nice tourist
stop-off'.

The Pass is an old General Wade's road and used in times gone by for the
quashing of irksome and errant Clans causing the Longshanks Man (Eddie the
furst) a bit of bother. It's a very fine road of 17 miles, and another dozen
or so of tarmac out to Newtonmore and Kingussie (of course really Ruthven
Barracks - covered previously in my blog)....

On a wee detour (slightly off the beaten track) going back towards the big
house, I noted a 'dam head' (breached) and a sluice gate/valve control
system...then at the outfall side old cast pipes (about 8" or 10" diameter)
in disrepair, as per the defunct dam itself.....This to service the big
house and maybe even below for some head height pressure to farms, steadings
or maybe even the town..?

A fine evening by the locks, and some waymarking green light to give subject
matter, as did the setting sun and interesting sky patterns on the still
waters....
Not much water traffic given this is high season.....'staycations'...hmmm?

Well worth the visit though.
