A great day for a stroll after a tasty luncheon with friends down
Strathaven way ..('strae'ven').
Lost of history (castle and other connections (see the plaque)) and by
raking about - I got down to the old mill buildings and talking to a
friendly local, was advised about the old generator house by the river...
So we think we're getting all 'renewable' eh? Folks been doing it for a long
long time now.
The burn was very low and I expect that mostly is doesn't fill too well. The
generator house was obviously fed by a lade from above the wee falls, but
whenever the business started to see hard times, then the attraction of
keeping the turbine house in order fell away as things started to
fold....shame, would be a great 'aged' example to have it still running.

'Strae'ven' was obviously an influential and busy market town at some time,
with milling and probably mining not too far way either.

A wonderful Summer day...and exploring new domains...great! Then to cap it
off a very refreshing beer in the Glassford Inn.
