Greenock east esplanade 9th June 09
They were very assiduous about preening. 'Mrs.' did one or two dives (one
pic shows her just after bobbing back up to the surface with attendant
bubbles).
I was surprised to see the size and strength of their webbed feet..it's no
wonder that irrespective of the water surface they can certainly move a
distance quickly.
Beautiful and striking male plumage, and contrastingly, very mooted female
plumage that almost disappears into the seaweed shore...
Good fun for 10 minutes again at lunchtime.
