It was a stunningly good day and so lots of visitors enjoying the grounds -
the big issues with Mugdock are the roads, to and from, are disgustingly badly surfaced with lots of poor pot-hole infills (murder for cycling on);
the other is the number of dirty dog-poo bags that are hung up in the trees, or left at the pathside.
In fairness here, there are really NO dog poo bins available around the trails..why not?!!!

There are the magic pines (I've shown these before too) where they have grown and merged together..not just kind of merged around , but actually formed into each other completely....Not too sure what type of pines they are, but very old and obviously of a compliant nature to swallow a near obstacle....triffids!! That's it, the Terrific Triffid Pine Trees!

The wee man Bailey loved his long swims chasing the enthusiastically flung ball into the far yonder of about 75 yards, even though it was cold. He's game and I think always will be! The fence he was jumping was very near the quarry (DANGEROUS!!) but it was clear wire strand, and he louped it with ease and gracefully so! A wise friend and dog man said that jumping is risky..dogs don't know or see the difference between barbed wire and plain strand...too true, the consequences do not bear thinking about....
Latterly, we passed this old tree, twisted and knarled near the Castle ....again I'd say a pine of some sort. Sad, strange and yet strong in death, eyecatchingly bold and interesting. Along the way a but are the old WWII air raid defences of ack-ack gun posts...trying best to take out war planes that were headed for the boiler house of industry at Dumbarton and the Clydeside. Further east on the moor hill sides, were placed street light decoys, lit-up to draw the planes to the north of the river and head them in towards the air defences....

We go forward from history, to look back on...sometimes learning and living differently, not always.
