Up through the Lowthers February 08
On a really lovely bright Monday, travelled from Cumbria back up north through the Mennock Pass to Wanlockhead (lead mining and some gold prospecting), on by Leadhills, and up through South Lanarkshire.
The Green Lowther is used for a directional radar beacon for north-going flight path air traffic.
The Lowthers offers fantastic walking and mountain biking in a very quiet and seldom visited domain, though it is part of the ultra-distance route of the Southern Upland Way.
