Got another slightly early break from work and decided to do this old favourite on a claggy day with the mists swirling and blowing through over the tops.
Dumgoyne is a super wee hill and steep, with deceptive BIG cliffs, therefore as all hills potentially dangerous.
I've not checked the records for the wee mid-week hill race the distillery used to sponsor (a ''blast''!), but believe that John Brooks, Davy or Billy Rogers or ilk, did it in about 19 minutes something - bottom to top via the walk gate at the aide of the field, down to the roadside fence and back up to over style and the top....then the whizz-bang-wallop return, using the wee scree slope to help the rate of decent!!

The view of Dumgoyne towards the end of the pics shown is the NNE side and the long scree is a super challenge, though for the ridge run, better to come off the small one on the right of the picture to pick up the col before the ridge.
The changing light and mists blowing through were mild enough and that magical aura prevailed right along to Earl's Seat...A bit of fun from the top of the trig point and then the canny run back. Views over the northern Flanders Moss plain and then west over towards the big bonny banks of Loch Lomond were good too.

Do it, it's a beauty, and if time and energy allow, I strongly recommend going over north westwards to the airy corrie rims (Balglas and Allenrowie).....superb on a good day.
